Acid Portraits
Last year was a strange year for everyone. The pandemic gave me more time to practice and get better illustrations. I realized that grayscale is my favorite method because I can easily define the values of the portraits. I visualize the highlights and shadows in my composition just by playing with opacity, blending modes and, of course, brushes. After getting the final grayscale render, I realized that my color palette should be surrealistic and bold. I used the gradient map tool to pop out the portraits in an abstract background inspired by some 70s posters. I tried to emulate the "acid" style used on psychodelic artworks. These illustrations were the last ones I did on 2020. I really enjoyed both colored and grayscaled versions. I hope you like them as well. Thank you for watching!
